A former University of Missouri assistant football coach has been charged with the killing of his girlfriend after police said he overdosed on pills and died.

University of Missouri athletic director Tim Wolfe released a statement Friday saying Anthony T. Ferguson Jr., who was a defensive coordinator for the past four seasons, was charged with homicide in the death of his girlfriend, 30-year-old Samantha Sarnoff.

Trey Ferguson, 59, of St. Louis, was arrested Friday. He has been released on $15,000 bond.

Sarnoff died Monday, said an investigator with the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s office. Ferguson was taken to an area hospital with a broken nose바카라 and head trauma. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

In a statement from Wolfe, the school says Ferguson had been on unpaid leave since April.

Sarnoff and her boyfriend, former MU defensive end Matt Brown, had gone to Ferguson’s apartment jarvees.comSunday night because they felt uncomfortable going out alone, an investigator said. The couple had been drinking, but they told police they had not been drinking alcohol recently, authorities said.

Ferguson was a defensive lineman for the Broncos, who last year went 12-4, making him the program’s all-time leader in sacks, tackles and interceptions. He played for Missouri from 1987 to 1994 and spent 10 seasons as offensive coordinator before retiring for family reasons.
